This is a series of randomly chosen monochromatic studies.
Atmospheric Pressure – Seated on a passenger aircraft with a pressurized cabin, actual reality of speed and danger are not realized until you look out of the window.
Was a Dime in the Day – Advances in technology moves more swiftly than ever, but the landline still exists albeit on fewer corners of the country.
The New Eatery – As recognizable as a fire hydrant’s silhouette, the shape and purpose of a modern food truck is unmistakable and mostly a culinary delight.
Petrified Texture – A fallen tree in California make for a subject in light and texture.
Old and Tall – The California redwoods are a sight to experience. The aged timbers withstand what nature reveals and remain vigilant for 100’s of years.
Beautiful Parasite – Although not parasites at all, to the unsuspecting, they may appear as invaders to a tree. This one is called Letharia vulpina or wolf lichen and do not root on its host but rather just sit on top and get nutrients via photosynthesis.
Trust – From afar, the Golden Gate Bridge is a stunning beauty and reminder of human engineering excellence. On closer inspection, most noticeable and not as attractive are the apparatus that ensures safety for all users of the structure.
No Owners – On the streets of San Francisco, my birthplace, there are 1000’s of sights to see–some monumental and others a part of everyday life. Judging by the rust on the chains and the bikes themselves, no current owners lay claim to these once loyal modes of transportation.
Band – Set after set, these band members showed no mercy to the crowd and offered melodic cover tunes with an an encore. Most noticeable were the smiles on their faces.
