As a freelance print advertisement designer for Rodale, Inc. publications, I was tasked with designing print advertising pieces of various newly released book publications to be featured in select Rodale publications. Several titles would need to be designed to perform as content fillers for each monthly issue of a particular periodical or subscription-based publication. “The Flavor Point Diet” was a typical design piece. All book ads would feature elements of the actual book cover with supplied ad copy, quote outs from the selected book and Rodale branding. For each ad, balance and white space was used to ensure the design would live successfully in a less prominent space with the publication.
